डॉक्टर जब सारी फाइलें बनाकर चले गए, तो धीरे-धीरे वार्ड में सन्नाटा फैल गया। सभी मरीज और उनके परिजन थककर सो गए — सिवाय मेरे। मुझे उस रात नींद ही नहीं आ रही थी। बस करवटें बदलता रहा… कभी घड़ी देखता, कभी छत को। हर मिनट जैसे एक-एक घंटे में बदल रहा था। धीरे-धीरे समय बीतता गया। सुबह के 5 बजे एक वार्ड बॉय अंदर आया। वो जिन मरीजों का आज ऑपरेशन होना था, उन्हें कपड़े बदलने के लिए कहने लगा। मैंने सिक्योरिटी मनी देकर कपड़े ले लिए, पर पिता जी ने अभी तक बदले नहीं थे। शायद वो भी भीतर से डर रहे थे — पर चेहरे पर एक अजीब सी शांति थी। थोड़ी देर बाद वार्ड बॉय ने आवाज़ लगाई — “जिनका ऑपरेशन है, ओटी के पास चलिए।” तब पिता जी ने कपड़े बदले। हमने सारा सामान उठाया। माँ को वार्ड में ही रहने को कहा — और जो हमारे बैग-डिब्बे थे, वो पास ही एक मरीज के परिवार के पास रखवा दिए। मैंने पिता जी को ओटी वेटिंग रूम में बिठाया, फिर बाकी सामान लेने वापस वार्ड गया। थोड़ी देर बाद मैं और माँ दोनों सारा सामान लेकर ओटी वेटिंग रूम पहुँच गए। अब हम तीनों वहीं बैठे थे। पिता जी शांत थे… पर मेरे अंदर बेचैनी बढ़ती जा रही थी। मैं बाहर निकलकर ट...

Chapter Eleven – सीटी स्कैन रिपोर्ट के साथ हॉस्पिटल विज़िट ऑपरेशन से पहले सब कुछ तय हो चुका था। 28 जून को मैं और जीजा जी, डॉक्टर के कहने पर 2 यूनिट ब्लड डोनेट करने गए थे। डॉक्टर ने बताया था कि सर्जरी से पहले यह ज़रूरी है। फिर 4 जुलाई को हमारा सर्जरी का इंडेंट दोबारा भेजा गया। उस दिन डॉक्टर ने हमें एडमिशन और सर्जरी की तारीखें दे दीं — 25 जुलाई को एडमिट होना था और 31 जुलाई को ऑपरेशन तय हुआ। इंडेंट भेजने के बाद जब हम तीनों हॉस्पिटल से वापस लौट रहे थे, तो शरीर भले घर लौट आया हो, पर मन वहीं हॉस्पिटल की गलियों में रह गया था। अब हर गुजरते दिन के साथ डर और बेचैनी बढ़ती जा रही थी — क्या होगा ऑपरेशन में? सब ठीक होगा न? दिन बीतते गए और पता ही नहीं चला कि 25 जुलाई आ गई। हम तीनों — मैं, पिता जी और माँ — लखनऊ पहुँचे। डॉक्टर को ब्लड रिपोर्ट्स दिखाईं। अभी तीन जांचें बाकी थीं — ECG, 2D Echo और Chest X-ray। डॉक्टर ने मदद की, और सारी टेस्टिंग एक ही दिन में शाम तक करवा दी। अगले दिन हमें सारी रिपोर्ट्स मिल गईं। अब बारी थी PAC (Pre-Anesthesia Checkup) की। हम ओपीडी में गए, और वहाँ पास...
